So, today is match day. For anyone who hasn’t heard of it, its the day when every medical student gets to find out where they will do their residency for the next 3-7 years.
For anyone that’s wondering, I’m doing internal medicine. And I just found out a few hours ago that I’ll be doing my training in Minneapolis.
There are always good and bad feelings about big, life-changing stuff like this. As for the good, I love the program. The people were absolutely lovely, the training is great & I get to work with a good variety of patients. Minneapolis is also an awesome city. And the bad? Well, Minneapolis is the only place I could have ended up that’s colder than Milwaukee. Time to invest in more (and more and more) outerwear. (Yay?) I also am separated from the bf, who got into a wonderful program that he loves over in Michigan. Can’t have everything, right?
So there you go. My next few years of life have a new path. I’m sure I’ll slow way down on the blogging when I get there because I’ll be working my butt off taking care of patients. But I hope I still make a little time for myself and my little blog
Whew, is so chilly out!! I think the high was 25F today. I’m ready for spring. But to help me get through this cold winter, I picked up both this cardigan and the scarf over the holidays. Oh, and do I love them!
I think I technically got the cardigan first. Its this thick, chunky cashmere knit my Marni. I just want to wrap up in this thing and never take it off. It is the warmest sweater I’ve ever owned. And its the perfect drab gray for me
My other favorite purchase was this plaid scarf by Loro Piana. This thing has some weight to it! Its definitely the thickest scarf I own by far. And the warmest. Put these two items together and I’m one happy camper. (Camper? Where did that saying come from, anyway?)
Price-wise, these were both reasonable purchases. The Marni cardigan was the more expensive of the two at around $150. “Sale retail” is about 2-3 x more than that. The scarf was almost exactly $100. Loro Piana scarves have a ridiculously high retail value, so I was more than a little excited about this one!
So, there are other exciting (for me, probably not you, lol) purchases that are currently on their way here! I finally got a black Equipment blouse for a reasonable $53. I also picked up a rust colored cardigan, a pair of jeans (because I’m hopeless) and a new black handbag! Time will tell if it’s a keeper. And my eBay watch list is still 4 pages long! Let’s see what else I come away with…
// Diane Von Furstenberg Coat (extremely similar and gorgeous version by DKNY) // Marni Cardigan (similar by Inhabit) // Inhabit Top (can’t go wrong with AW) // J. Crew Pants (here) // Kate Spade Shoes (similar ones by Ivanka Trump) // Loro Piana Scarf (Macy‘s has good options) // Kate Spade Purse (classic Kate Spade) //
Any day now I’m going to wake up to beautiful colors that signify the changing of the seasons. But not quite yet. Right now I’m quite content with the crisp mornings and 60 degree weather. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Can you tell? No? Well, I got my hair cut. And colored. I really like the lady that did it. But she accidentally put more red in than we wanted. Its actually quite horrible. Oh well, its just hair. And it’ll be redone later this week. I think the cut she did is going to grow out wonderfully, though. Unless I fry it with the flat iron a little more (like I tend to do…).
Quick thought. This sweater is a fun little eBay purchase. Lovely 75% silk 25% cashmere blend. Wow. This is the perfect combination for soft, warm and non-itchy. Perfect for a turtleneck, as I typically break out in a rash easily on my neck and chest for wool or cashmere. I’m going to have a (hopefully short-lived) obsession with this fabric blend, I think.
