is it really over?

For most medical students, the four year journey is filled with mixed emotions. You learn so much in such a short amount of time. You get to see everything from babies entering the world to trauma victims leaving it. As exciting as school sometimes was, I’m relieved to be done. I try to be a low-stress person, but the last four years tested that ability. Many of us were depressed during some part of the last four years, and I felt that way at times, too. Medicine is a difficult field. But I’m happy I did this. It will be worth it.

Alright, enough of that! On to more important things: Marion’s “Trend of the Month” challenge!! Marion is one of the sweetest bloggers out there. Her posts can make me actually lol (people usually mean “laughing on the inside” when they write lol, right?), and her posts can make me cry. Well, technically I just tear up and sniffle and then tell myself to suck it up. But, my point is, if you haven’t checked out her blog, head on over there! :)

A quick note on the shirt. As I’ve said before, I have an obsession with Equipment signature shirts. They have the most amazing washed silk and the best drape ever. I picked up this equipment shirt on eBay a while back and it finally arrived! I also got it in the black and white version. Yes, that might be overkill. Oh well. They were great deals and will be worn to death!

cream cheese filled french toast

May 4, 2013 in Balenciaga, Burberry, Equipment, LOOKBOOK, Zinc

We were so excited to head out for brunch today!! I enjoyed a super yummy quinoa and egg skillet after a difficult self-debate on whether the cream cheese filled french toast was worth working out for the next five hours. For the trip, I decided to don some shorts, despite the not-so-warm weather. I tossed on one of my favorite equipment blouses, which was another eBay find from early this year. I love these things, they’re so comfy! I definitely plan to eventually add more to my collection.

Afterwards, we made a quick trip over to J. Crew and tried on some stuff. Came home with a grand total of zero items. Pretty proud of myself right now! I did spend a few minutes snapping some pictures and I’ll post them soon :)

navy, pink and brown
So, I’ve been thinking about those four purchases I’ve allowed myself this month, and I think I’ve decided what to buy. One of the items will definitely be a trench coat in either a black or some sort of tan/ gray. I couldn’t justify spending over $800 on my Burberry trench from the Bloomingdales sale. I just didn’t have that extra money. I’ll see how much I end up with after selling 1/3 of my wardrobe, but I think a new designer trench is out of the question. Bummer.

Madewell Crossweave-Sleeve Trench Review

madewell crossweave sleeve trench
I. Love. This. Jacket. It was a Madewell popback purchase last week during the 25% off sale (still going on today). I’m so glad I took the plunge outside my comfort zone. The jacket is surprisingly versatile. Its perfect for spring to fall, at least in the Midwest. Just big enough to layer under without looking too bulky. This is an xs.

Now I’m determined to try out more Madewell outerwear (have a a legitimate excuse to buy outerwear year-round now, you know). Their coats are more rugged looking than J. Crew’s, but still just as adorable. I’ve been eyeing this Kasson Parka for about a month now. It was actually the first thing that caught my eye on their site. I swear it was on sale before, though. Confused.
