I can’t remember the last time I did fitting room reviews! I rarely go in-store these days. Unless I have a separate reason to drive by the store, I’ll eat the return shipping fee and return by mail. But, I was by the store, and J. Crew has a 30% off everything sale going on, so I figured I’d look around. Anyway, I’ll stop blabbering and get on with the reviews!
Favorite shirt. This shirt isn’t bad. Overall, its cut pretty well. I’m wearing my regular shirt size, a 0 regular. I like the longer length and the detail on the side. Its a comfy stretch cotton, so it has some give when moving around. What I didn’t like was its not totally opaque. I could definitely see my white tank outlined under it. It might be ok with a nude bra, but I’m not sure. I don’t love it enough to take that chance.
Shrunken boy shirt in buffalo check. I really like this shirt. I don’t know why. Its a super cozy cotton flannel, maybe that’s reason enough. I also like the slim and slightly over-sized fit. No funny tight arms or anything. I’m wearing my regular 0. If you’re into the pattern, I’d recommend this one! Hopefully it holds up in the wash.
Boyfriend shirt in rockport plaid. This one is really similar to the plaid one above. Again, super cozy cotton flannel. It fits great in my regular size 0. I prefer the other plaid pattern over this one, so I put this one back. But if you’re a fan of the pattern, give it a try!
Regent Blazer. This was the first time I tried on the Regent blazer. I think its a great cut. It fits well. I’m wearing a 0 regular. Its a lighter weight wool and is fully lined. Its cut longer, like a CYA length. I actually think the regular length’s proportions look a bit off on me, so I’m going to try the petite sizes instead and hope the arms aren’t too tight.
Regent blazer in linen. I like this blazer! For some reason I picked up a 00 on this one, even though for the regular Regent blazer I tried a O. I like the fit of this one sized-down. I actually like that its a little wrinkled and casual looking. Its a heavier weight blazer, which is good for me, maybe less good for people in warm climates. Just like the regular Regent blazer, I’m going to this one in a petite to see if the proportions look better.
Double notch mini skirt. I didn’t want to like this skirt ($98 for a mini??), but I did! My store doesn’t carry petite sizes, so I’m wearing a 00 in these pics. The regular sizes quote a 17″ length. Surprisingly, the petite sizes quote a 16.25″ length. Usually there’s more of a difference. Anyway, I love the fit of this skirt. Its comes above the waist and obviously falls a bit above the knee. The side slits are small, but give the skirt something unique in addition to making walking easier ;). Is a stretchy soft wool and is fully lined. Nice invisible back zipper. Not much to criticize for this one, other than the color selection.
Tissue T-shirt. I grabbed a tee to see how the sizing ran. I’m wearing an xs, which is my usual size (I’ve even taken xxs sometimes). I guess the xs fits, but it fits snugly. Its definitely not a loose, casual look. When J. Crew tee’s are on sale for ~$10 I try to grab a few. I may grab the xs, but I might even size up to a small.
Other items I tried? The silk drapey v-neck blouse has excellent reviews online. I thought it was cut well, but the fabric was not great. Maybe a $30 shirt at most (not $98!). The zip-front pencil skirt in sparkle tweed also has rave reviews. It looked blah on me, not flattering at all (granted maybe the petite size would have been better). But it was also super itchy. Super pretty on the rack, but definitely a pass for me. Last up, the mirror metallic d’Orsay loafer flats. These also have great reviews. They’r cute. I tried the 6.5 on (I’m a tts 6) and they fit fine. But they’re not as comfy as the Sloan flats. Maybe its because of the leather vs. suede, though. I am still tempted to try these in the suede.
Ok, all for now. Let me know if you’ve picked up anything good lately!
