Ann Taylor can be hit or miss for me. I hadn’t purchased anything from there for quite some time, so I decided to place an order during the recent 40% off sale. I’m actually quite impressed with the dresses that I bought. I got three, all size 0P (and a bunch of other stuff that I ended up returning). The Etched dot print dress is adorable. I wore it today actually. Its slightly shorter than I would prefer, but its doable for work when paired with a conservative sweater or cardigan. The Mini dot print twist wrap jersey dress (could that make that any longer?) is also adorable. I love that it’ll transition perfectly into the fall and winter (its a heavier weight, too). Its classic and flattering, can’t go wrong. Lastly, the Draped cowl neck sheath dress is stunning! This is a perfect formal dress and is conservative enough to be worn to work as well. If you’re even thinking about getting a LBD in the near future, try this one out.
If I would have known that these dresses would fit so well, I would’ve ordered a few others (just to try, lol). I regret not ordering the Lace bodice dress. I don’t remember even seeing it before I placed my order, and I’m a little bummed about missing it. I debated the Crepe colorblocked dress, but its just too much color for me. I still love looking at that one, but I’ll resist.
Normally J. Crew is more my go-to store, but I haven’t been able to justify their prices what-so-ever! I mean, their Bridget and Emmaleigh dresses are gorgeous classics. But for almost $200? That’s a little steep. I might order them just to try, and hope that one day they’ll make it to sale. But their work basics don’t usually get marked down a whole lot. Doesn’t hurt to try, I guess.
And as for the Banana-Issa collaboration, I’m confused why the petite sizes are unavailable. Maybe they were available at some point and I missed it. Some of them are nice classics, like the Three-quarter sleeve wrap tie dress and the Short sleeve pleated dress. But I’m not going to intentionally get something that I’m going to need to hem. I don’t have a tailor yet, and I’m sure my mom wouldn’t really appreciate me sending a dress to her to hem. I’ll be passing on these, I guess. Any other dresses that have caught your eye recently?
Love that AT dress on you! I saw it in store and almost bought it during the 40% off sale but also felt it was just slightly too short for work. Also love the shoes, just as pretty as the stock photos!
Hi this is probably random but I noticed you have a lot of experience using eBay. Have you tried using Poshmark? I would love to hear tips on using Poshmark, either as a buyer or seller! The only thing that bothers me about Poshmark is how expensive it is to pay shipping as a buyer 🙁 I’m wondering if you think it’s worth it, for example, to pay $7 for shipping on a single blouse? Also, I’m wondering if I should use eBay or Poshmark to try to sell some of my clothing/shoes? Thank you! Love your blog 🙂
I highly recommend the JCrew suiting dresses. I usually try them on by ordering full-price from JCrew and return, then buy them at a discount on final sale or from eBay. The fabric doesn’t wrinkle easily, and the quality is fantastic. The only problem for me is that I’m between petite and regular, so I often buy the regular size and have a tailor take up the shoulders.
I bought the AT Mini dot print twist wrap jersey dress too and I love it! I haven’t got to wear it yet but I’m excited to wear it when the weather cools down a bit.

I know! If it was one inch shorter it would be perfect. I was pulling it down all day. It’ll be better with tights I think
I ordered a few things from the AT sale too, but nothing ended up working out. Love this dress on you!
Thanks Tara. It’s totally hit or miss with them
That bag is just darling and pretty much goes with everything!

I have that same problem with dress length, especially once I sit down. But I love it on you, very sophisticated!
