J. Crew Reviews {Cropped Matchstick Jean, Tipped Boyshirt, Liberty Peasant Top & Schoolboy Blazer, Dotted & Peony Tee, Merino Sweater in Inky Floral, Jeweled Sweatshirt, Sera Top}

I hadn’t been in-store to try on anything at J. Crew in months; it was about time to check in. I walked away with three items, the boy shirt in stripe linen (also in white, dot and plaid), the dotted tee (adorable), and the collection cashmere plaited sweatshirt in stripe (I got the pink, online in 4 colors still). Here are the other things I tested out:

Tipped Boy Shirt (63666) – I still plan on picking this up when there’s an extra percent off sale items. I didn’t plan on being overly impressed by this one. The silk is a regular light-weight material. But the navy is nice and dark and looks great with the white contrast. The other colors it comes in are surprisingly pretty as well. I’m really a fan of the new fit of the boy shirt. Its slim and long enough to cover most of the bum. I’m wearing a 0 here and it fits quite well.

Cropped Matchstick Jean in Garment-Dyed Denim (23953) – I picked these up because I was wearing scrubs and needed to throw on some normal-person pants. I was actually impressed with the fit of these as well (and will be picking them up in white when sale time hits). They’re the perfect ankle length for me (albeit not “cropped”).

Liberty Peasant Top in June’s Meadow Floral (49793) -Peasant tops are typically unflattering on my short frame, so I wasn’t surprised to not like this one. I’m wearing an xs here and it totally poofs out in the sides and back. Pretty and soft fabric, but obviously a pass.

Dotted Tee (40195) – I already mentioned that I came home with this top, so I obviously was impressed with it. I’m wearing an xs here and I think its perfect. The neon pink color is actually very subtle and flattering. The only negative is that you can see outlines of my bra through the material, so I would probably layer a tank under it.

Merino Sweater in Inky Floral Print (85477) -Not impressed with this one. I saw it online and thought it was adorable, but in person it was completely unflattering. I’m trying on an xxs and the fit is just off. Its a baggier style with an almost cropped cut. Probably would look really cute with skirts, actually.

Liberty Schoolboy Blazer in June’s Meadow Floral (47924) – Picked this one up because it was on sale. It fit ok.  I’m trying on a 0 but would need a 00 for a slimmer fit. On a positive note, the print is really pretty and the fabric is super smooth and soft.

Peony Tee (99196) – This is the top under the blazer on the right. Its quite pretty. J. Crew goes through floral knit phases almost every year. I’m wearing a small but would need an xs or even xxs for a snugger fit.

Jeweled Sweatshirt (13793) – This sweatshirt was heavy!! I’m wearing a small because no smaller sizes were left. Its kinda cute and unique, actually. I’d probably go with an xs because the xxs would be too snug. A consideration if it ever hits sale. I think it would be perfect with rolled up sleeves and shorts in the summer.

Sera Top in Traced Medallion (65235) – This top is really pretty. The pattern is even more beautiful in person.  I’m wearing a 0 here but could easily go for a 00. Its quite wide and billow-y and I think it would be best tucked into a skirt. Perfect for the summer. A pass for me because I’m not a big skirt person, but I’d grab it if it went on further sale.
