Review: Fendi Chameleon Bag (Large)

I’m so excited to introduce my newest addition to my very very tiny bag collection (if one bag can be called a “collection”). This is Fendi’s Chameleon bag. I love it. It reminds me of my old Givenchy Antigona.

Here are the quick details for the bag:

  • Two soft, wide top handles with a 4½” drop (good for hand and elbow holding, but doesn’t fit over the shoulder)
  • A removable and adjustable shoulder strap with a 18″-24″ drop (can either wear at the side with the shorter length or as a cross-body with the longer length)
  • Top zip closure (two zippers)
  • Protective metal feet (thank goodness)
  • Two inside open pockets and one center zipper pocket
  • Cotton lining (acceptable)

Size: This bag is the larger size, measuring 15″W X 12″H X 6½”D. Its a wonderful size for an everyday bag. In the picture above you can see that it fits a good amount of stuff. It can easily fit some folders (the magazine fits but is falling over), an iPad or smaller laptop.  The two side pockets are great for a phone (I also have my id badge in there). I also have a few small pouches thrown in there for hair and makeup touch-ups, my glasses case, and (of course) my lint roller.

Weight: One of my favorite things about this bag is how light it is. I typically carry a lot of stuff, and with this bag I don’t feel weighed down. The leather is sturdy and thick, but the hardware is minimal, which is perfect for a daily bag.

Quality: I’ve never owned a Fendi bag before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m happy to report that the quality appears to be quite good. The leather is soft, saturated and beautiful. As I mentioned above, it seems quite sturdy and is a bit thicker and textured for added durability. The hardware is minimal and classy. The bottom feet are adorable and essential! The only thing that I could see ever posing a problem is the smaller-sized clips for the shoulder strap, but I’ll see how that goes. The handles are wide and thicker and are quite comfortable. The interior is cotton, which means that the bag is lighter. I always think that a suede or leather interior is more luxurious, but I’m not distraught over this.

Versatility: As I’ve said, this is a great everyday bag. Its a great shape and weight to carry essentials plus work papers. There are a few different ways to wear it too, which I appreciate. I like that I can take the shoulder strap off and wear it a little more dressed up (with that pretty gold hardware!). I also really like the shoulder and cross-body options, especially for shopping and traveling.

Price: The Chameleon is in the same price range as Balenciaga and Celine, my favorite bag designers. This one is around $1700-$2500 (for the larger size). sometimes has a few options, but I did just read on tpf that they can give you a hard time with returns, which I never appreciate. Below are a few options. My favorites are the light beige and the taupe color. They are just stunning. If the taupe ever goes on sale its mine, lol!!
