J. Crew Boyfriend Fatigue Jacket {Review}

This lovely jacket was added to my cart to obtain the free shipping quota (sound familiar?). Was I really going to pay $9 shipping on a $35 shirt? No way. So here are my thoughts on the jacket (that will have to wait for sale… which will hopefully come one day!):

Item Number: 19985
Price: $168.00
Color: Olive drab

Fit: Since this is more of an oversized-type jacket, I decided to size to my smaller size, xxs. It was a good choice, although the xs may have worked as well. This size feels cozy when I zip it up, but hangs wonderfully without looking bulky or baggy when I leave it open. My regular xs would work well for layering under.

Warmth: Being a cotton jacket, this doesn’t provide much warmth. Its a nice, mid-weight cotton that would probably do more wind-blocking than insulating. I’d probably wear it in the 50’s-60’s with a couple layers under.

Styling: I’m a huge fan of these types of jackets. There are soooo many ways to wear these and look adorably put together! I have a more baggy version, but would love this slimmer one.

Quality & Price:

As with all J. Crew items, the price always seems a little high. Quality-wise, this one is excellent. I love the green buttons and the very hefty zipper. The hood is removable.  The waist can be let out or cinched in tighter. There are enough pockets for anything and everything, plus an inside pocket. And the material is thicker, but still smooth and comfortable.

  • bust (underarm to underarm): 17″
  • waist (side to side): 16″
  • arms (shoulder to cuff): 23″
  • length (shoulder to hem): 28″

Overall: I really like this jacket, but I’m going to return it and wait for it to go on sale. It won’t be warm enough to wear it for a few months, anyway. Hopefully this one actually makes it to sale (or I’ll have to settle for the 15% student discount)!
