I had the hardest time finding a properly fitting suit. I tried my area department stores first with absolutely no luck. I stopped in The limited, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic and J. Crew. Oh, how I wish this J. Crew suit would have worked out. Here’s what I found:
I got the jacket in a size 0P. I usually wear a J. Crew 00 or 0P, depending on the fit of the item. The fit of this blazer in a 0P is very off for me. Its too snug in the shoulders while fitting fine in the torso. The regular sizes are cut slightly differently and are slightly wider in the shoulders. I really liked the fit of the regular 0, but it was slightly large overall. If I was to get this jacket again, I would likely get a size 00 and have the sleeves shortened. The other option for me would be getting a 2P and having the waist taken in. If you have slimmer shoulders, you may want to check out this jacket. The quality is wonderful. The cut is classic. And the fabric is extremely smooth and falls beautifully.
I got a 0P in the trousers, which is my typical J. Crew pants size (size down to 00P in the minnie). These are obnoxiously tight and would not be appropriate business-wear. Additionally, they are an unlined wool and are much too itchy when the fit is this tight. I think that sizing up one would do the trick. These are a very reasonable option for those of you who are smaller than I am!
*I ended up keeping an Ann Taylor Suit. The Rosemonde Jacket and Modern Fit Trousers were my favorites 🙂
