J. Crew Darby Tweed Loafer Review

Don’t you hate when you buy an item “just to try,” only to find out that you love it? Do you return it and wait for it to go on (a better) sale? Do you hang on to it for a little while to see if you love them as much in a week/ month, etc? This is my dilemma with the Studded Tweed Darby loafer (sold out, here in beautiful suede) by J. Crew.

Pros: This is such a unique shoe. It’s the perfect shade and pattern of tweed to go with so many things. The studs, while I wasn’t originally a fan of them, are kind of fun. The best part of the shoe is the shape and fit (I got them in the larger of my two sizes). Its a nice, sleek shoe, and it hugs my foot perfectly! I have such a hard time finding comfy flats, and these are perfect.

Cons: Well, the price. At $228 full price, these are definitely not affordable. Even after the $25% off + 4% back from ebates, I still ended up paying ~$165. They’re also wool (with leather lining and rubber sole). I don’t know how well the wool will hold up with time.

Verdict: I think I’ll hang on to them for a while. Maybe I’ll sell a few thing, or a lot of things, so I can justify this purchase. We shall see. Thoughts?

Happy Halloween!!
