The Black Leather Jacket

This past Saturday I decided that I’ve gone long enough without a black leather jacket. I’ve lusted over various styles, such as the Balenciaga moto jacket, and Doma moto jacket. The Balenciaga is crazy expensive, like around $2,000+. I had a passing thought that I should perhaps save up and have that be a big “splurge” purchase. That thought passed. I then was searching and found the Doma moto jacket w/ a detachable hood, which is adorable. I couldn’t find anything similar on sale anywhere, and $700 is way more than I’d be willing to spend, too.

The search went on. I already own one brown Mackage jacket, which I adore, but its more of a feminine jacket, so for the black one I wanted more of a rocker chic look. I didn’t exactly accomplish this with the Soia & Kyo Elena jacket, but it was close enough for me.  And the price was definitely ok at bluefly: about $153 shipped for a real leather jacket- not too bad. Now on to the review:
Overall, I love this jacket. Its very soft and fitted. The sweater-y material at the cuffs and color is nice and will help a little with warmth. The fit is great. I got it in an xs and I think its perfect. It zips up with a hoodie under it and is not too constricting, but is form-fitting. This also comes in xxs, which will be a great option for the smaller ladies!! The only con I can think of so far is the leather is a little thin. Obviously it is a less expensive option and I’m not going to get Balenciaga-smooshy leather. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want it. As I said, overall its a great buy. I was going to buy the olive jacket last sunday, but the price was already up to $250. I hate fluctuating prices.

Oh, and normally I wouldn’t pair leather with shorts, but my jeans are still packed away.

Next I’ve been eying Express’s (minus the) Leather Moto Jacket. The reviews say that the fake leather is really nice, I just don’t know if I’m ready to spend that much money on a piece of polyurethane. We shall see. Does anyone else have this dilemma?
